BioLargo Spotlight: BioLargo on the Road

We have a busy month coming up for BioLargo’s business development team! While our scientists are hard at work preparing our platform technology for commercialization and our engineers are busy serving clients, our business development folks are forging new relationships and presenting our company’s technology and story to important audiences intrigued by our story of technology innovation.

This week, President and CEO Dennis Calvert will be presenting BioLargo’s story to an investor audience at the annual Planet MicroCap Showcase 2018. The presentation will be closed to the public, but the audience will be comprised of investors and interested stakeholders in disruptive new technology companies. A press release about this presentation can be read here.

BioLargo’s Director of Business Development Dr. Shan Yong and BioLargo Water scientist Jenny Boutros will be presenting a special seminar about our company’s technologies at CSU Fresno on April 25th. The seminar, titled “Innovation, Collaboration and Commercialization for Air and Water Solutions for Agriculture and F&B Industries” will be delivered to agriculture and food & beverage industry stakeholders and esteemed academics.

Finally, BioLargo’s Dennis Calvert and Odor-No-More’s President Joe Provenzano will be presenting at the 2018 Waste Expo hosted by Waste360 in Las Vegas, NV. Dennis and Joe will be taking BioLargo’s disruptive industrial odor control product CupriDyne Clean on the road and meeting with countless prospective users of the product.

What is a BioLargo Spotlight?
It’s an exciting time at BioLargo. We’re moving fast, and it can be difficult to keep our stockholders and the investing public informed of our progress. In light of this, we will be posting a series of short articles titled “BioLargo Spotlight”, highlighting certain business activities and other important information in between our required SEC filings. Of course, these do not replace our public filings, which contain more complete information than can be delivered in this forum, and thus we urge you to carefully read and rely on those filings for definitive information, and to review our risk factors and caution regarding forward-looking statements. We are optimistic about our business as we work hard to continue to grow and ultimately generate profits for our stockholders.

BioLargo Spotlight: BioLargo Water receives funding from the Government of Canada for AOS Pilot Project

Today we’re happy to announce that BioLargo Water Canada has been awarded $235,000 CAD from the Canadian Government’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) to fund our first on-site pilot project.

You can read our official press release about this pivotal milestone here

As many of you know, BioLargo’s Advanced Oxidation System (AOS) has, through the past few
years of development, been transformed from a tiny beaker-sized proof-of-concept device to a full-fledged pre-commercial “Alpha” prototype. Building a prototype like this is a crucial step in taking an innovative product to market, but it’s not sufficient alone.

Another big part of the equation is the need for commercial pilots, where the product is tested in a real field environment against real-world industrial challenges. Naturally, we have been working hard to establish these commercial pilot projects for our AOS.

Now, we’re pleased to say we have been awarded significant financial support from NRC-IRAP to fund our first commercial pilot, and have secured an industrial poultry processing client partner on whose site our pilot AOS will be installed. This commercial pilot, which is planned to take place throughout 2018 and early 2019, will see the AOS installed on-site at a Canadian poultry producer’s processing facility, where its ability to reliably and cost-effectively treat poultry wastewater will be demonstrated exhaustively.

This is an important step for our AOS technology, as well as for our company. We are confident in our disruptive water treatment technology and have proven its treatment capabilities in the lab ad nauseum. However, a pilot project for the AOS, as with any technology, is crucial to prove its reliability to industry stakeholders as well the capital cost and operating costs of our technology at-scale. These data will be critical to  pave the way for future market adoption. And, as you might imagine, we have many other pilots in evaluation.
