PFAS, or per-/poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), are a
class of water contaminants of rising concern in the US and globally. PFAS have
been linked to cancer, fertility problems, asthma, and more, and are present in
a vast range of manufactured goods including food, common household products
(e.g., cleaning products, cookware), and electronics. PFAS also pose widespread
and serious water safety problems around the world, with governments and
industry actively seeking new technologies and processes to eliminate PFAS from
groundwater and drinking water.
