August 16th, 2016 – Santa Ana, CA – BioLargo, Inc. (OTCQB: BLGO) introduced its much-anticipated “alpha prototype” AOS Filter during its Second Annual Technical Symposium to stakeholders, industry experts, and esteemed academics gathered at the Edmonton Canada Snow Valley Conference Centre and at its research lab at the University of Alberta Agri-food Discovery Place. At the Symposium, BioLargo’s subsidiary, BioLargo Water, announced its flagship water purification system had made pivotal steps toward full-scale commercialization: the Alpha Prototype AOS (“Advanced Oxidation System”) Filter “has been built and is ready for testing and subsequent integration into client-specific applications.” The current model includes a suite of state-of-the-art sensors that, along with a cutting-edge monitoring system, endow the prototype with the flexibility and input accuracy necessary to treat an astounding variety of contaminated water sources. The system can be engineered and built to suit a wide range of sizes – from small home or portable devices to very large industrial or municipal scale applications.

BioLargo Water researchers also revealed the results of hundreds of studies showcasing the AOS Filter’s water purification capabilities. This robust technology eliminates water-borne bacteria more effectively and at a lower cost than competing advanced water treatment technologies, and can boast a safe and environmentally friendly build and operation. The research team was lauded for its work on water disinfection and decontamination that clearly placed the AOS Filter far and above competing technologies and has paved the way for development of the commercial AOS Filter. Finally, the team presented plans to test and develop the Alpha Prototype AOS Filter into a pre-commercial pilot model (the Beta prototype), which is the last step before commercialization of this powerful water treatment solution.

The company’s Chief Science Officer, Kenneth R. Code, added, "I am particularly pleased with the expert data collection, and our presentations to potential strategic partners also help affirm scalability of the AOS technology to industrial and municipal scale.”

Dennis P. Calvert, the President &CEO of BioLargo, commented "We are marching forward to impact the world for good. Science confirms our scalable AOS Filter system is more effective at disinfection than any known competing technologies at less than < 1/20th the energy (cost). Now that the Alpha unit is complete, we are able to more fully demonstrate its scalability to meet heavy industrial and municipal client needs. We are thankful for the substantial support from the Canadian federal and provincial systems as well as industry members that continue to directly support our important work. We are also thankful for our shareholders that consistently support our mission to 'Make Life Better' and deliver value to our stakeholders.

The best of times for BioLargo is ahead".
